How Jelly Game works
Six cards and a 3×3 table flipped a column at a time. The lowest budugu and the best poker hand split the pot. Try each step: the game checks your answers.
1. The rules
- 6 cards each, and a 3×3 table. Every player gets a card, then the table gets one, six times. The rest fills the table; the center holds 2 cards. The table starts face down.
- Betting. A bet after the deal, then the dealer flips a column and there is a bet after each flip. No draws.
- Budugu. Four cards of four different suits and four different ranks (the budugi), plus a pair card that matches one of the four, plus a face card (J, Q or K).
- Using the table. A budugu may use 3 table cards in a line, as in tic-tac-toe (a row, a column or a diagonal), plus 3 from your hand. Your own six cards can make one too.
- Poker hand. Exactly 2 cards from your hand and 3 in a table line. You need a flush or better to go for poker.
- Budugu, poker or both. After the last bet you choose. Half the pot goes to the lowest budugu and half to the best poker hand. Go for both and you must win both, or you forfeit both.
2. Budugu or not?
Your six cards, no table. Do they make a budugu?
3. Which budugu wins?
Only the four budugi cards are compared, from the highest down, aces low. Tap the winner.
4. The poker half
For the other half of the pot, play 2 cards from your hand with 3 table cards in a line. Only a flush or better can go for it: a flush, full house, four of a kind or straight flush. The highest poker hand wins that half.
