How Texas Hold’em works
Two cards each, five on the board. The best five cards wins. Try each step: the game checks your answers.
1. The rules
- 2 cards each. Only you see yours. The small and big blinds are posted left of the button.
- Pre-flop. Betting starts left of the big blind.
- The board. The flop turns 3 cards, then the turn 1 and the river 1, with a betting round after each.
- Your hand. The best 5 of your 2 cards and the 5 on the board, any mix. Playing the board is fine.
- Highest wins. Royal flush, straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, pair, high card. Aces are high, and low in A-2-3-4-5. Exact ties split the pot.
